Nigeria bears the highest global burden of Sickle Cell Disease, yet sustainable progress requires moving beyond emergency room crisis management toward institutionalized care and legislative protection.
The Sickle Cell Action Community Health (SCACH) Fellowship, organized by the O.A. Initiative, is a 3-month hybrid incubator designed to bridge the gap between community-level advocacy and actionable health policy. Cohort 2 moves beyond routine testing to provide rigorous training in Nigeria’s health systems, Universal Health Coverage mechanisms, and legislative lobbying.
Practical instruction on the National Assembly legislative journey, Federal and State health architecture, and state health insurance frameworks (EKHIS, NHIA, BHCPF).
Learn directly from seasoned health commissioners, legislators, and directors, supported by 1-on-1 mentorship pods led by certified Cohort 1 Alumni.
Design, resource, and execute self-funded advocacy capstones — from campus sickle cell clubs to departmental policy briefs — without relying on micro-grants.
Earn recognized leadership and advocacy credentials backed by the O.A. Initiative and key health-sector partners.
